Our Lumber
All of our products are made from real wood Our dimensional lumber (2x4,2x6) are white fir. The larger sizes (2x8,2x10,2x12, and 4x4) are douglas fir. Our 1x lumber is straight pine. Sheet lumber, (plywood), is high quality cabinet grade. When I select lumber, I take the time to check for splits and cracks, twisting and bowing, etc., making sure to get the best quality I can. There have been times I have sorted through 120 boards to get 40. (During one trip Kris went with me, and I noted that we could count this as quality time together. Apparently, her definition of that and mine are two different things)
When preparing the lumber for a bed, we sand each and every board, round the edges to remove sharp corners, and then palm sand the corners to remove all chances of splinters and smoothing it all up.
We have had requests for specialty lumber such as oak and cherry, and are willing to work with all woods, but do keep in mind that when a store bed says solid oak, it really isn't solid oak. We know, we have a bed like that. Do be prepared for sticker shock if you request a quote for a bed using real oak or cherry. It is expensive!
